The Shell Drive for Five® Card offers a flat discount of 5 cents per gallon on all fuel purchases at Shell.
It doesn’t matter how often you use the card or how much you spend, and it doesn’t require you to meet any other requirements. For a car with a 16-gallon tank, that is about 80 cents in savings for a complete fill-up.
The Shell Platinum Select® Mastercard® offers a more complex savings opportunity, but it can lead to four times the savings than you’d get with the Shell Drive for Five® Card.
With the Shell Platinum Select® Mastercard®, your savings are based on the prior billing cycle’s total spend on the card. If you spend less than $500 on qualifying purchases, you don’t get any savings.
If you spend $500–$999.99, you save 10 cents per gallon. Spend $1,000–$2,499.99 to save 15 cents per gallon. Spend more than $2,499.99 and save 20 cents per gallon.
This means that some months you could end up with no savings, but other months you can save up to 20 cents per gallon.
